Reliance Jio 5G-enabled smartphones to be priced below ₹12,000: Report | Techno Glob

Reliance Jio is all set to roll out its standalone 5G services in select metro cities around Diwali this year. During the annual general meeting, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that the telecom giant is working with Google to develop a 5G smartphone. The company has not disclosed the specifications of the smartphone.

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the price of a 5G-enabled Jio smartphone in 2009-2010 was Rs. 8000 and 12,000.The report also says that Jio will launch the device after the successful launch of 5G services in metros.

The report says that the new 5G smartphone will clear up Jio’s strategy – first, it will use the JioPhone Next 4G to attract hundreds of millions of 2G phone users to its 4G network and then use it to attract them to its 5G network.

It has been reported that 5G plans can be 20 percent more expensive than 4G plans. The company wants to increase its average revenue per user 188 in 2024 and beyond 208 by 2025, Hindustan Times sister site Live Hindustan reported.

According to earlier reports, the Jio 5G smartphone may sport a 6.5-inch HD+IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1600×720 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The phone is expected to run on Google Android 11 operating system.

Talking about the camera features, the Jio 5G smartphone is expected to pack a 13MP+2MP dual rear camera setup. It is expected to have an 8-megapixel camera on the front panel. It may have a 5,000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support, added a Live Hindustan report.
