The big screen season is back in Sandalwood as the industry secures yet another box office success Gandhi Gowdy. The documentary film was released in theaters on the occasion of Puneeth Rajkumar’s first birthday and has been doing well ever since. Fans have experienced a large number of cinema halls that have been described as an emotional ride and the same reaction is now translating to box office numbers.
Yes, according to the latest trade reports, Gandhida Gudi managed to collect more than Rs. 4.25 crore on Day 5 of its theatrical run. Taking advantage of the Kannada Rajyotsava holiday, the documentary became a clear winner at the domestic box office and outperformed Kantara In pursuit of it. According to the same reports Kantara Kannada has collected a little over Rs. 3.0 crore (net) on Tuesday, November 1.
Rs. 20 crore mark is within reach for Gandhi Goudi and current estimates suggest that the film will achieve the target on day #6 (Wednesday). Thanks to the excellent opening weekend performance, which earned as much as Rs. 13.65 crore, Amoghuvarsha’s film is now a decent hit at the box office.
Directed by Amoghuvarsha, who also stars in the film alongside Puneeth Rajkumar, Gandhada Gudi is a non-fiction docudrama that explores the natural heritage of the state of Karnataka. Primarily seen through the eyes of Puneeth Rajkumar and Amoghuvarsha as they go about exploring the region’s many vibrant locales, Gandhada Gudi has been hailed by fans as a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. Many have envisioned the film as a perfect send-off for Puneeth Rajkumar who tragically passed away on 29 October 2021.
