Mukesh Ambani’s daughter set to be appointed president of retail unit at Reliance Industries | Techno Glob

Isha Ambani is set to be named chairwoman of conglomerate Reliance’s retail unit in another sign that her father, Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is pursuing a succession plan in one of Asia’s wealthiest families.

An announcement of Isha Ambani’s elevation could come as early as Wednesday, according to people with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified until an official statement. She is currently a director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd.

A representative for the group declined to comment.

Isha Ambani’s promotion follows that of his twin brother, Akash Ambani, who on Tuesday was appointed chairman of the telecommunications unit, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. Both Isha and Akash served on the teams that negotiated Meta Platforms Inc.’s investment in the group.

Isha, 30, is an alumnus of Yale University. The twins have a younger brother, Anant, 27.

Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio are subsidiaries of the family-owned oil-to-telecommunications conglomerate, of which Reliance Industries Ltd., worth $217 billion, is the flagship company. Mukesh Ambani is Chairman and CEO of Reliance Industries.
