Kannada film Kantara has emerged as a blockbuster, earning crores of rupees. 16 crores in its five days so far, with an impressive track record. The highest collections for the film came from Karnataka. 15.50 crore, while outside the state generated around Rs. 35 lakhs, Mumbai city is making most of them.
The film opened on a low note in Karnataka on Friday but was a huge hit in the evening and night shows. Saturday’s collection almost doubled to Rs. 3 crore and then another big jump on Sunday was Rs. 4 crores as the shows of the film are increasing. The film collected very well on Monday, compared to the same collection as Saturday while competing with Sunday thanks to the Ayodhya Puja holiday yesterday. The film is all set to take another jump in collections today, which will be its biggest day-to-day run so far.
The best actor for the film is South Canara followed by Bengaluru city. The Shetty brothers have a huge influence in South Canara and the region is usually a good performer for their films. The film is now starting to compete with KGF Chapter 2 in the region, recording footfall yesterday in the same way KGF 2 was on its opening day. KGF 2’s five-day footfall is only slightly behind KGF 2, though in terms of collections KGF 2 is far ahead due to ticket prices.
Kantara’s box office collections at the Indian box office are as follows:
Friday – Rs. 1.60 crores
Saturday – Rs. 3.05 crores
Sunday – Rs. 4.10 crores
Monday – Rs. 3.10 crores
Tuesday – Rs. 4 crores
Total – Rs. 15.85 crores
