‘He beats all the haters every time’, ‘absolute box office entertainment’ – Liverpool fans believe 23-year-old to be ‘star’ after display in 2-0 win over Napoli | Techno Glob

Liverpool fans were delighted with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday (November 1). However, they are excited about Darwin Nunez’s future at the club after his impressive performance for the Reds, also getting his name on the scoresheet.

While Jurgen Klopp’s men have been stagnant in recent weeks, the forward’s talent has shown time and time again, and his late goal against Napoli thrilled the Anfield supporters. Here’s a selection of tweets from happy fans:

Darwin Niños: • 5 goals in his last 7 matches in all competitions • 3 goals in his last 3 games in the Champions League • 1 goal every 106 minutes for the Liverpool FC boss. https://t.co/Dv97QJ29Tw

I truly love Darwin Nines the man 😂 he cracks up the haters all the time and I’m all for it 🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/LZNCzP34oh

Say what you will but Darwin Nines is absolute box office entertainment.

We’re arguably a worse side at the moment and Darvin Nunes is still scoring a goal every 106 minutes with relatively inconsistent playing time. He is going to be a star.

I can’t really express my love for Darwin Nunes, I absolutely love him 😭😭😭

I can tell you that Darwin is a serious player in Nines, it’s 5 out of 6 games he has scored, players are a serious threat from set pieces, too many are too quick to finish him👍

Liverpool defeated Napoli by two goals

The game opened with the Reds picking up their first big chance as Trent Alexander-Arnold linked up well with Mohamed Salah down the right. The Egyptian ace found Curtis Jones at the far post, but the midfielder-winger couldn’t get his effort on target.

Napoli pulled one back with a wonderful chance from Tanguy Ndombele, but the former Tottenham Hotspur man forced his shot straight at the Liverpool goalkeeper.

Another big chance for the Reds came soon after Partenpi’s chance, with Roberto Firmino pulling back a cross for Jones. However, the youngster’s effort was once again on target, just glancing over the bar.

One of the biggest highlights of the first half was James Milner’s head injury, as veteran midfielder Zimbo tackled Angusa. Although he stayed on to finish the first half, Milner was forced off just two minutes into the second half, with Liverpool bringing on Harvey Elliott in his place.

The highlight of the second half was for the visitors, as a disorganized Reds defense conceded the first goal of the game, which was disallowed by VAR. Leo Östergaard was the hero for Napoli as it was his header that put the ball into the net, but the centre-back was only offside.

As the match entered its final minutes, both sides worked to find more chances, with neither side able to dominate proceedings easily. Both Alison Baker and Alex Merritt had to make key saves and recoveries for their sides.

In the end, Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal in the 85th minute of the game and Liverpool took advantage of a corner to put the numbers in the box. Another corner rattled Napoli’s defence, as Jurgen Klopp’s men took full advantage and Darwin Nunez saved the second goal in injury time.

It wasn’t enough to keep the Reds in pole position in Group A, as Napoli consolidated top spot with a better goal difference. However, the Reds will be happy to get a win against an opponent that has already lost in the season.
