Calgary police release security camera images of ‘person of interest’ and victim in East Village death | Techno Glob

Calgary police have released security camera images of the victim and person of interest in an assault that claimed the life of a man in the East Village earlier this week.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Sixth Avenue SE at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, where a man was in medical distress on the sidewalk, police said in a release.

Despite life-saving efforts by witnesses and first responders, the man was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Closed-circuit television images show the victim dressed in black, carrying a black backpack and wearing a black mask.

The person of interest, standing next to the victim, was wearing a red bandana as a face mask, a black ball cap, a black puffy jacket and a cross hanging from a long neck.

The victim is unknown pending an autopsy, which is scheduled for Thursday.

It is not known what led to the attack.

If the death is determined to be a homicide, it would be Calgary’s 23rd homicide of the year and Second in three days.
