It was a very low week one (first 7 days) total for Thanksgiving as it crossed the 30 crore mark. On Monday, the film saw an expected drop as it just came down 1.50 crores*. On Friday, the film was collected 3.30 crores At the box office then such a number was always on the cards. The film will now continue to collect in the same range till Thursday and will once again see a big drop after Friday due to the arrival of around half a dozen new releases.
For now, thank God is standing 30.75 crores* And ideally it should have been the number of the first three days even in the least case scenario. However, it is quite clear that the Indira Kumar-directed drama has been rejected by the audience. One of the main reasons for this is that the film was devoid of enough humor that really made Total Dhamaal, the last offering from the Indira Kumar-Ajay Devgn duo, a big hit at the box office. With a multi-star cast set up for it, the film went on to do business 150 crores mark
Of course, reaching such a number in today’s time would be tantamount to doing a blockbuster business. However, if half of that would have come with this Siddharth Malhotra-led film, it would have been considered a good number. 75 crores A privilege when viewed in today’s box office context. Unfortunately, 50% of the film’s lifetime total will be more and at best it will find itself. 38-40 crores limit
* Estimation. Final marks are awaited
Note: Box office numbers are estimates and based on various sources. The numbers have not been independently verified by Koimoi.
