All is not going well for Ayushmann Khurrana in the post-pandemic era. The actor, who was once known for his back-to-back success at the box office, is really struggling. Will his next film, Doctor Who, change his fortunes? Let’s find out how it’s going on Day 1 of the pre-booking.
First, we’ll take a look at the city-wise trend:
Ayushmann Khurrana has a good following in Mumbai and his earlier Pandemic films have received good support from here. Talking about Dr. J, the film is completely slow in advance bookings, as none of the shows are filling up fast. With just 1 day left for the release, no miraculous changes are expected and now, all eyes are on the Walk-in.
This region has been Ayushmann’s stronghold, so some shows for the doctor here are filling up fast. Of course, this kind of response is flawed and I expect better performance from here. Unfortunately, like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR is now completely dependent on walk-ins.
Bengaluru is performing similarly with Delhi-NCR just a few shows faster. Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara will have a tough fight with Dr.J here.
Hyderabad has been slow to respond so far. We have seen that Hyderabad shows good support for Bollywood films, despite its failure in other circuits. However, for Doctor Who, the answer is surprisingly low with only a couple of perfectly fast shows.
Pune, Chennai and Kolkata
Pune and Kolkata are showing everything. Chennai is doing well with the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 10-12% Faster shows fill.
Now coming to the collection, Doctor has collected Rs 37 lakh through advance bookings for the first day. It’s clearly a non-starter for Bollywood, unless it’s accompanied by an unusual buzzword in spot booking tomorrow. For Ayushmann Khurrana, this is an ominous sign as he has given two flops in a row with Chandrang Kere Aashiqui and Anike.
